Impartiality

books.beledit.com is not affiliated with any retailers. I receive no compensation for reviewing or otherwise promoting books or authors.

However, as an active book blogger, I do regularly receive free books from publishers. I am not obliged to review the books I receive and receiving free books in no way affects which books I review, which links I provide or the content of my reviews or articles. All my reviews are my own original work, and completely honest and unbiased. I review books because I enjoy doing so, not for commercial benefit.

BelEdit websites do not carry ads and so no information whatsoever is shared with any advertisers.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. BelEdit uses cookies to help BelEdit identify and track visitors, their usage of BelEdit websites, and their website access preferences. BelEdit visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using BelEdit websites, or decline the use of cookies via the cookie consent popup, with the drawback that certain features of BelEdit websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Who we share your data with

Nobody. BelEdit will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its affiliated organizations, as described above, BelEdit will disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when BelEdit believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of BelEdit, third parties or the public at large. We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to get anonymous information about use of the website. But we don’t use or store anything about individual users, other than as described below under Comment forms.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we may be obliged to keep for legal, or security purposes.

Comment forms

If you leave a comment on this site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website URL in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. Also so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you do not opt in to saving this information, it is not saved.

When you leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your Gravatar profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (AKISMET).

We reserve the right to not publish or to delete any comments deemed abusive or inappropriate, and to block users who post such comments.

You contact information is used only for the cookies mentioned above. It is not used by us for any other purposes. We will not use it to contact you, or give it to anyone else.

Business Transfers

If BelEdit, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that BelEdit goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. If we have inadvertently misused any images, please contact me via my Bluesky account: @beledit.com and we will remove them immediately. All other images used are legally obtained images licensed for commercial use without attribution.
